Majolica pottery was first introduced in Italy during the 14th century. Tin glazed earthenware hadn't yet hit Europe at this time. This style is characterized by the vividly decorated scenes on each piece. It later came to be known as istoriato, meaning embellished with a narrative.

This vase measures appriximately 6" by 6" at the top and 3.5" by 3.5" at the base.
